It’s time to plan and book your wedding vendors for your special day! Maybe you’ve been planning this for years on Pinterest or you are starting from scratch with no real vision in your head. Once you’ve decided on a few key thoughts about your dreamy day, it’s time to put some players on your team. With so many wedding vendors to choose from, florists, DJs, caterers, planners, etc. the list goes on, it’s your job to find some winners, I mean vendors, for your team. Here are a few notes to finding legit wedding vendors who will meet your every expectation.
Wedding Vendor Reviews and Recommendations
Word of mouth referrals from recently married friends are the best, unless you have nothing in common. But then, why are you really friends? But really, check their reviews. I would start with google reviews, since not everyone uses the wedding website sources such as The Knot and Wedding Wire. A pretty website is a start, but dig a little deeper.
Insurance and license or certification (if applicable)
The best question to ask is “Are you insured?” since most reputable venues will require that all wedding vendors have insurance. “Is this your full-time job?” will hint if this is a hobby or a business. Not every vendor will have a license, but caterers must have and wedding planners should be certified. The licensing and insurance is especially important to protect you in the event of unforeseen circumstances. Your day of event insurance does not cover vendors.
A Professional Portfolio
Ask to see photos of their work in the wedding industry. You should get a sense of their style and experience. Do they have a blog that shows off their work? Although not necessary, make sure you look at a wide range of their work to see if they are a good fit.
Accreditations and Memberships
Professional accreditations and memberships to industry organizations are signs that they are invested in their profession. It will hint at whether they are a hobbyist or a full time professional.
Gut feeling
Scientists today, say our guts are our second brains. Trust your intuition. If something feels off, it probably is. Don’t book a wedding vendor because you feel guilty that they invested time or had a good sales pitch. If it feels right, trust your gut.
